The Tillandsia Caput Medusae is an unusual and unique plant within the Tillandsia species. The unusual thing about this species is certainly its shape, which it also owes its name to. With the thicker head (Caput) at the bottom and the beautiful sturdy curly leaves, the Tillandsia Caput Medusae looks a lot like a female figure from Greek mythology. Medusa, the woman with the snakes' hair, which in turn can be compared to the curly leaves of this kind. Other common names besides Tillandsia Caput Medusae are also Medusa's head and octopus plant.

This exclusive species is found in Central America and Mexico. In spring to early summer, a beautiful violet-colored flower can often grow from the center of the Tillandsia Caput Medusae.
